It feels like summer has started today. Somehow this has spurred me into action & I feel like blogging again.
It has been nearly a year since my last blog (that sounds like a confession) but I really haven't felt like it.
Winter here has been grim & we have been hibernating.
Perhaps now it is warmer our little mice friends will vacate my house & go to live outside.........I don't want to evict them but the scratching & scraping in the large bag of dog food does keep me awake some nights.
We have lambs in the fields, chicks under hens, broody hens on eggs, cats hunting mice & dogs hunting cats so in many ways things have not changed since last year.
Business has been steady away, with the cottages booked up months in advance & the campsite as popular as ever.........the furniture has been story of new designs, new marketing via 'not on the high street' and plans for a new website. We are hoping for a fabulous bank holiday weekend ahead & can't wait to see some of our regular May Bank campers.
Tomorrow we have 100 hedge plants arriving and a 1.5 tonne digger to shift some stone, slate & rubble to start a garden in the garden to 'The stables' cottage. We will plant lots of cottage garden plants & shrubs and wild flower seeds to form a hopefully a deep & interesting walled garden (see the before photo) I will keep the blog updated with how we progress. Pete & I are scared gardeners; lack of knowledge & experience makes us unsure of what to do & how so we will be relying on the HGV's (Hafod Gardening Volunteers) for advice & confidence in this task.
Meanwhile here are some photos of our latest furniture designs & a few others:
